Congratulations to CMES for becoming a Certified Maryland Green School!! Four teachers and six fifth grade students attended the award ceremony at Sandy Point State Park on Friday, May 30th.

Friday, June 6th @ 1:30 PM – Teachers vs. 5th Grade Kickball Game

Friday, June 6th @ 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM – End of the Year Picnic – The CMES PTO invites all students, teachers, staff members and their families to celebrate the end of another great school year at the End of the Year Picnic. Hot dogs will be provided and drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. A DJ will provide music for dancing and the PTO will have games set up for the kids. See below if you’d like to volunteer to help.

Monday, June 9th – Friday, June 13th – Spirit Week

Monday – Pajama Day

Tuesday – Hat Day

Wednesday – Crazy Hair Day

Thursday – Hawaiian Day

Friday – School Spirit Day!! Wear a school t-shirt or red, back and white.

Mr. Burns has given permission to wear hats on Tuesday, but all other clothing must follow the county dress code (no short shorts, spaghetti straps, etc.).

~~ Volunteer Opportunities ~~

Grills and Grillers needed – The End of the Year Picnic Planning Committee is looking for 2 volunteers to bring their propane grill to school on Friday, June 6th at 4:45 PM, then 2 volunteers to grill hot dogs from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM and from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM. If you are interested in helping out, please sign up at (you do NOT need to create an account) or contact Jennifer Ator at or (410) 721-0584.

End of the Year Picnic – Many volunteers are needed to help with the annual CMES End of the Year Picnic on Friday, June 6th. Setup begins at 4:15. During the picnic, help is still needed at the concessions table (no cooking!), grilling, at the spirit wear table, and running games from either 5:30 – 6:30 or 6:30 – 7:30. Cleanup help is always needed at the end of the picnic at 7:30. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up at (you do NOT need to create an account) or contact Jennifer Ator at or (410) 721-0584. Please consider working one shift so everyone has a chance to have fun.

Band/Strings/Chorus Spring Concert DVD – Orders are still being accepted for the Band/Strings/Chorus Spring Concert DVD. Fill out and turn in the pink order form, or write your student’s name, teacher and SPRING CONCERT DVD on an envelope, along with $10 cash or check (made payable to CMES) by Wednesday, June 4th. DVD’s will be distributed before the last day of school.

Transferring Students – If you are moving over the summer and your child will not be returning to CMES for the 2014-2015 school year, please contact Mrs. Rostad in the main office at 410-721-9453 so that transfer papers can be prepared. You will need these transfer papers in order to enroll your child in their new school.
