Monday, April 7th – Science Fair Project are due. Bring your completed board to your classroom Monday morning. Judging is on Tuesday, April 8th. See below for more information.
Monday, April 7th – HealthWalk T-shirt order forms due. Each student will receive a FREE HealthWalk T-shirt for this year’s May 2nd HealthWalk. A T-shirt order form was sent home with students last week. To guarantee your student receives the correct size, please fill in your student’s name, teacher, grade and shirt size and return the form to school by Monday, April 7th. If no form is returned, a “best guess” for size will be made. If you did not get a form, please send an email to email@example.com with the info. If you would like to purchase additional HealthWalk T-shirts, there is space on your student’s form to order additional shirts at $10 each. Please send in either cash or a check (payable to CMES PTO) with the T-shirt form.
Monday, April 7th @ 6:00 PM – Meeting with Mr. Burns – All parents are invited to discuss the new lunch room procedures with Mr. Burns. There will be a morning meeting on April 10th for those who cannot attend an evening meeting.
Tuesday, April 8th – Friday, April 11th @ 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM – Kindergarten Registration for the 2014-2015 school year. Your child must turn 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1. The following documents are needed to register your child for school: Birth certificate, immunization record, two proofs of address – lease/deed or mortgage statement (mandatory), the second proof of address can be a currently dated utility bill, pay voucher, bank statement, etc.
Tuesday, April 8th @ 5:00 PM – 9:30 PM – Chick-Fil-A CMES Spirit Night – Stop in or drive-thru the Chick-Fil-A in the Waugh Chapel Shopping Center anytime between 5:00 PM and 9:30 PM and they will donate a portion of the sale back to CMES. Don’t forget to bring the CMES card that will be handed out to students that day.
Thursday, April 10th @ 8:30 AM – Meeting with Mr. Burns – All parents are invited to discuss the new lunch room procedures with Mr. Burns.
Thursday, April 10th @ 6:30 – 8:00 PM – Crofton Meadows Math Night. This year’s theme is Get Well With Math! Come out for a fun evening of Math activities and games. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please see below if you’d like to help with prep work or running a table.
Friday, April 11th @ 7:45 AM – 8:30 AM – Donuts with Dad – All Fathers and Father-figures are invited to donuts and juice with their student in the CMES Cafeteria. Please RSVP ASAP. A flyer was sent home with your students.
Monday, April 14th – Friday, April 18th – Spring Break
Monday, April 21st – First day back from Spring Break. This day was previously a day off but is now a school day to make up for snow days.

~~ Volunteer Opportunities ~~
Math Night – Ms. Galvin is looking for volunteers to help with this year’s Math Night on Thursday, April 10th from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM. She needs volunteers to prepare items at home before the event and volunteers to run tables during the event. If you would like to help, please contact Ms. Galvin at firstname.lastname@example.org or at the school. Please put “Math Night” in the subject of your email.
Career Day – If you or someone you know has an interesting career, the CMES students would love to hear about it! Please contact the Career Day Coordinator Jessica Awad at email@example.com if you would like to participate. Career Day is Friday, April 25th beginning at noon. Lunch will be provided.

Science Fair – Attention Students participating in the science fair: Please bring your completed board to your classroom on Monday morning. On Tuesday, you will be called to the media center for judging. You will be asked questions about your board. You do not need to prepare a speech. Be ready to talk about anything on your display board. Dress to impress and smile at the judges! You will be invited to an awards ceremony during the school day on Tuesday and will bring their projects home on Tuesday. Thank you for supporting the science fair. Volunteer Recognition Tea – The Volunteer Recognition Tea will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014, 8:30 – 10:30 a.m., at Michael’s Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie to thank volunteers for their time and efforts. If you would like to attend please RSVP to email@example.com by May 9, 2014. You must RSVP to attend to reserve your seat.
PTO Elections – The CMES PTO Nominating Committee (Margaret Oh, Fern Kucinski and Ragnhild Erdely) is accepting nominations for the offices of CMES PTO President, Vice President Membership and Treasurer for the 2014-2015 school years. Elections will be held at the general membership meeting on May 21st. If you are interested in running for any of the positions or have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a write-up of your qualifications and why you want to run by May 7th. Your write-up will be featured in the Mustang Messenger Newsletter two weeks prior to the actual elections. CMES Green Gallop 5K and Family Walk – The CMES Green Committee is hosting the CMES Green Gallop 5K and Family Walk on Saturday, May 3rd at 8:00 AM at Davidsonville Park. All proceeds will go toward helping CMES become a certified Maryland Green School. This event will raise funds for an outdoor classroom, a butterfly garden, natural animal habitats for students to observe, new materials for green-themed lessons, landscaping tools to maintain the gardens and much more. Registration forms are included in your Health Walk packet or sign up online at www.greengallop.wix.com/cmes5k. Register by April 14th to guarantee a T-shirt.
2013-2014 CMES Yearbook – Forms were sent home for the 2013-2014 CMES Yearbook. The cost of the yearbook is $11 and forms and cash or check (made out to CMES) are due April 25th.
Golf Lessons – The Crofton Country Club, one of our community partners, will be holding golf lessons for CMES students starting May 1st. The club will run for six weeks (Thurs) for kids ages 6-11. The cost is $75. Flyers are going home this week. They will be running the program and therefore will handle all registration and payments. Spaces are limited. To register email email@example.com.
Bricks 4 Kidz Summer Camps – Bricks 4 Kidz, one of our community partners, is offering a $20 discount to CMES students if they register for one of their summer camps before April 15th.
