Monday, April 14th – Friday, April 18th – Spring Break – Have a safe and happy Spring Break and don’t forget to collect donations for the May 2nd CMES HealthWalk!

Monday, April 21st – First day back from Spring Break – This day was previously a day off but is now a school day to make up for snow days.

Monday, April 21st @ 6:00 PM – Lunch Room Meeting with Mr. Burns – All parents are invited to discuss the new lunch room procedures with Mr. Burns.

Friday, April 25th @ 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM – CMES Volunteer Breakfast – The CMES staff and students will be recognizing all of the hard work from our volunteers who have volunteered this school year. We look forward to seeing you there!

Friday, April 25th – Yearbook Order Forms Due – Forms were sent home for the 2013-2014 CMES Yearbook. The cost of the yearbook is $11 and forms and cash or check (made out to CMES).

Looking for Creative Volunteer – Mrs. Luecking is looking for a creative volunteer to help her with bulletin boards. Contact her at or at the school.

Career Day – If you or someone you know has an interesting career, the CMES students would love to hear about it! Please contact the Career Day Coordinator Jessica Awad at if you would like to participate. Career Day is Friday, April 25th beginning at noon. Lunch will be provided.

Drama Club – The CMES PTO After School Enrichment Program is offering a Drama Club on Wednesdays, April 30th -June 4th from 2:50-3:50pm in the CMES music room. The club is open to 2nd-5th graders and space is limited. The cost is $70 for PTO members and $80 for non-members. Go to to register. Email questions to

Anne Arundel County Public Schools Volunteer Recognition Tea – The Volunteer Recognition Tea will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014, 8:30 – 10:30 a.m., at Michael’s Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie to thank volunteers for their time and efforts. If you would like to attend please RSVP to by May 9, 2014. You must RSVP to attend to reserve your seat.

PTO Elections – The CMES PTO Nominating Committee (Margaret Oh, Fern Kucinski and Ragnhild Erdely) is accepting nominations for the offices of CMES PTO President, Vice President Membership and Treasurer for the 2014-2015 school years. Elections will be held at the general membership meeting on May 21st. If you are interested in running for any of the positions or have any questions, please email with a write-up of your qualifications and why you want to run by May 7th. Your write-up will be featured in the Mustang Messenger Newsletter two weeks prior to the actual elections. CMES Green Gallop 5K and Family Walk – The CMES Green Committee is hosting the CMES Green Gallop 5K and Family Walk on Saturday, May 3rd at 8:00 AM at Davidsonville Park. All proceeds will go toward helping CMES become a certified Maryland Green School. This event will raise funds for an outdoor classroom, a butterfly garden, natural animal habitats for students to observe, new materials for green-themed lessons, landscaping tools to maintain the gardens and much more. Registration forms are included in your Health Walk packet or sign up online at . Register by April 14th to guarantee a t-shirt.

Golf Lessons – The Crofton Country Club, one of our community partners, will be holding golf lessons for CMES students starting May 1st. The club will run for six weeks (Thurs) for kids ages 6-11. The cost is $75. They will be running the program and therefore will handle all registration and payments. Spaces are limited. For more information or to register, email

Bricks 4 Kidz Summer Camps – Bricks 4 Kidz, one of our community partners, is offering a $20 discount to CMES students if they register for one of their summer camps before April 15th. A flyer was sent home with students. For more information, check out or send an email to
